The St George Bicycle User Group (BUG) is a non-profit, incorporated, community based association promoting recreational cycling within the Local Government Areas of Rockdale, Kogarah and Hurstville.
Regular rides are organised for a mixture of experience, fitness level, age, gender and bikes including Road, Hybrid and MTB.
We warmly welcome new riders with a ‘try before you buy’ approach with the overarching objective to have fun and enjoy the company of others. We offer the ‘first three rides’ complimentary after which we request membership.
There is typically no additional cost for advertised BUG rides, other than incidentals, such as coffee/ lunch/public transport fees, as applicable.
Questions regarding BUG rides should be directed to the Rides Coordinator, in the first instance or alternatively, the nominated Ride Leader.
Ride Average Speed
To assist members, BUG rides are graded based on the estimated Ride Average Speed.
Each BUG ride will provide an indication of the average speed anticipated. Even on flat to rolling terrain, a fast ride can be quite taxing. The speeds shown in the table are a general guide, however they have proven for many members an effective way to assess which rides they would prefer to do.
It is recommended that riders review the details for the ride thoroughly, and make an informed decision based upon personal fitness level and experience.
