Snowy Mountains - March 2020

Just before the orders for social distancing and staying home were given – due to Covid-19 – fourteen St George BUG members drove to Jindabyne for a few days’ holiday, staying at the caravan park beside the lake.

On the first day of riding, we cycled from Prussian Creek to Charlotte Pass and back (24kms), stopping for coffee at an open-air café used by skiers in winter, and then had an added short stint along Lake Jindabyne cycle track.

We spent the next day by car, visiting Lake Crackenback, walking the 5km loop trail from Bullocks Flat to the Diggings, enjoying some fun at Thredbo and stopping off at the Schnapps brewery.

To avoid the uphill of the Col de Beloka on our ride to Dalgety the following day, we parked some of our cars at the base of the hill, before being driven back to Jindabyne to start our cycle. Then it was off to Dalgety for lunch before cycling back to our cars, 42kms cycle all up.

A few of us rounded off the trip by going to Canberra for a couple of nights with a day ride around the lake.
